As our State, County, and Municipal officials clarify and mandate the opening phases of our community, we need to report the standing of our much needed and greatly desired AA meetings. As most of the meetings in our district have been suspended, all have not been. They will resume in their entirety as soon as this figurative storm has passed. AA trusted servants will meet to decide the proper reopening stages of each meeting. Please continue to visit with members of each meeting group and their GSR (General Service Rep.) to see what path your particular AA meeting will follow. The McAllen Share Group meeting continues to hold daily meetings. 10 am/Noon and 5:15 meetings hold the best member turn out. It is important to stress that Social Distancing practices are being adhered to at these meetings. 8 pm and 10 pm meetings are continuing as scheduled but have had poor member turn out and thus sometimes appear to have been canceled. They have not been canceled/suspended.
Social Distancing Norms: Everyone remains 6 feet apart from each other, wear masks when indoors (not required by County regulations), and avoid shaking hands and touching your face.
Stay Safe and Stay Sober, it is One Day at a Time for each and everyone of us.
It must never be forgotten that the purpose of Alcoholics Anonymous is to sober up alcoholics. There is no religious or spiritual requirement for membership. No demands are made on anyone. An experience is offered which members may accept or reject. That is up to them.Bill W.
